Product detailed description

Campo del Cielo is the largest meteorite ever found. Both in number of pieces and in weight. But that doesn't detract from its interest and beauty. It's a meteorite that was formed during the formation of the solar system itself, giving us a glimpse into a time when the world around us was just beginning.

Campo del Cielo in northern Argentina is a crater field formed by a meteorite impact 4-5 thousand years ago. Since the 16th century, expeditions have searched for iron boulders here, the largest of which are fragments named El Chaco (28.8 tons), discovered in 1969, and Gancedo (30.8 tons), excavated in 2016. The field contains thousands of fragments and is protected by law.

Its story, history and characteristics are discussed in more detail in our blog article entitled Campo del Cielo.
