Rafsa 005 is one of the extremely rare meteorites known as angrites. It is an ancient volcanic rock that formed in the early stages of the solar system's evolution - about 4.5 billion years ago. Its origin has been linked to a body in the inner part of the system, possibly a planet similar to 4 Vesta.

This particular piece was discovered in 2023 in northern Algeria. The fragments found weighed about 2 kg and are now part of private collections and the meteorite market.

Rafsa 005 is interesting for its composition - it contains calcium-rich pyroxenes, with an admixture of diopside and anorthite. When polished, it reveals beautiful reddish-brown hues and a fine internal structure that makes it a fascinating object not only for scientists but also for collectors.
