Product detailed description

This exceptional pallasite, named Gyarub Zangbo, was discovered in 2020 on the Tibetan plateau near the Gyarub Zangbo River. Pallasites are unique stone and iron meteorites composed mainly of olivine and iron. They are believed to form at the boundary between the core and mantle inside asteroids. They provide a unique insight into the processes that shaped the first bodies of the solar system.

The Gyarub Zangbo meteorite differs significantly from all previously known pallasites. Its chemical and isotopic composition of olivine and metal phases shows that it originated from a different parent body than common pallasites. Analyses of oxygen and chromium isotopes classify it as an anomalous carbonaceous pallasite.

In addition to its scientific uniqueness, it is also aesthetically appealing. Translucent olivine crystals are set in a metallic matrix, creating a fascinating mosaic that combines beauty and cosmic origins.
