Meteorite | Lunar | El Atchane 024 | 832 g
Product detailed description
The Apollo missions brought 382 kg of lunar rocks to Earth with a total value of $23.9 billion - approximately $62,565 per gram. Today, however, you have the opportunity to own a real piece of the Moon that came to Earth naturally... as a meteorite.
Lunar meteorites are formed as a result of huge asteroid impacts that eject rocks from the surface of the Moon into space. These fragments then travel through the solar system until they are captured by Earth's gravity and burn up in the atmosphere. A small portion of these bodies survive passage through the atmosphere and fall to the surface of our planet as meteorites.
This piece survived our atmosphere and is classified as feldspathic melt breccia – a rock with a high content of feldspars, mainly plagioclase (anorthite). Under a microscope, it reveals impact glass, shock veins, and traces of space weathering. It is therefore a rock composed of fragments of older lunar rocks joined together during a strong impact with another body.
El Atchane 024 was found in southern Algeria near El Atchane by the prospector Yahdihem. In 2025, the meteorite was purchased by Milan Zvára and Zdeněk Schneider and subsequently analyzed by Prof. José Garcia in the Canary Islands. The result is an official classification and entry in the international meteorite database.
This is a huge end-cut of a unique lunar meteorite, so we consider it an exceptional investment opportunity.
