Meteorite | Ksar Ghilane 022 | Achondrite | <0,1 g

Product detailed description
Ksar Ghilane 022 is the first meteorite seriously considered by some research to have originated on the Martian moon Phobos.
It is a disaggregated achondrite that was originally thought to be a possible Martian fragment since its discovery in 2023 in the Tatawin region of Tunisia. However, this theory was later debunked and scientists' attention shifted to a possible origin on the moon Phobos.
The Japanese space agency JAXA is planning a Martian Moons eXploration (MMX) mission with Phobos as its main target. The probe is to land on its surface, collect samples and bring them back to Earth. The mission will also include a European rover to survey the terrain. The return of the samples is planned for 2029.
The meteorite was found near the oasis of Ksar Ghilane, after which it was named.
