Meteorite | Howardite | NWA 17709 | 18,06 g
Product detailed description
NWA 17709 is an extremely rare Howardite (HED achondrite) originating from the surface of asteroid 4 Vesta – one of the oldest and best-studied bodies in the Solar System.
This meteorite was found in Algeria and its total weight is only about 400 g. All known material is exclusively in our possession and is not available anywhere else in the world.
A polished thin section reveals a polymict breccia composed of lithic clasts and mineral fragments embedded in a fine-grained clastic matrix. The matrix consists of finely crushed silicates and smaller opaque minerals.
The limited quantity of this meteorite makes it a completely unique specimen, which also represents an interesting investment opportunity.
