Al Haggounia 001 is a fossil enstatite chondrite meteorite found in the Western Sahara. It has a very low iron content and is rich in enstatite, a mineral composed mainly of magnesium silicate.
Due to its long residence in the terrestrial environment, it shows signs of weathering, yet retains a fascinating structure and history. The meteorite's structure also shows signs of impact melting, indicating that it has experienced severe impacts and heating during its history. Its origins date back to more than 10,000 years ago, when it hit the Earth.
