Meteorite | Achondrite | Eukrite | 771 g
Product detailed description
Two billion years ago, the asteroid Vesta—one of the largest in the solar system—collided with two meteorites. Fragments that were catapulted into space eventually fell to our planet. Meteorites that originate from the crust of asteroids are called achondrites, and eucrites are the most commonly found type. These are rare finds, as achondrites make up only 3% of all meteorites that fall to Earth.
Ownership of this eucrite comes with a bonus that you won't find with most other meteorites. Several times a year, you can see the celestial body from which it originated with your own eyes. The asteroid Vesta is the most visible asteroid from the Earth's surface (its diameter is over 500 km) and can be observed regularly with the naked eye. It is fascinating that the object from which the meteorite in your collection originates is literally within sight.
